Guzmania Bromeliad, Scarlet Star
Guzmania Bromeliad is a popular epiphytic perennial often used as a gift or houseplant. Its dark green foliage creates a funnel shaped rosette with a short central flower stem covered with colorful bracts that protect the white flower cluster at the top. Grows best with bright indirect sun and dry to average sharply-drained soils or surface.
The color selections offered are red, pink, purple, and yellow. The color will be random unless specified in the Cart Note at checkout.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance. Water well and let soil dry before watering again. As an epiphytic plant, it does not need to live in soil but clings to a support like rocks or trees. If in soil, wet soil quickly leads to root rot. Needs humid air to prosper. Common pests for houseplants include mites, scale, leafspots, and mealybugs.
HOLIDAY CONTAINER CARE: Place containers in a moderately lit room. Because the decorative containers do not have drainage holes, only a light watering once a week when the top soil is dry is necessary. If the Bromeliad is mounted instead of potted in soil, a more regular misting is required. If you think you have overwatered, tilt the container into the sink to drain any excess water. Containers will last 6-8 weeks with proper care.
LANDSCAPE USES: Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Rock Gardens, Houseplant, and Containers.
COMPANION PLANTS: Kalanchoe, Christmas Cactus, Amaryllis
