Seriyu Japanese Maple is a small upright deciduous tree with a broad-rounded crown and low branching.  Small deeply dissected, almost lace-like palmate leaves emerge light green with red tips and mature to medium green before earning hues of gold, orange, and red in fall.  Small non-showy umbels of red-purple flowers bloom mid-spring followed by samaras. Grows best in rich, moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils.  Prefers full sun in cooler climates, but needs afternoon shade in southern areas.
