Medusa Ornamental Onion is a clumping herbaceous perennial with spreading twisted grey-green grass-like foliage.  Sturdy upright stems sport nodding buds that straighten as they open to fragrant global clusters of light purple flowers that bloom in mid summer.  Grows best with light afternoon shade in the South and dry to medium well-drained soils.  When crushed the foliage smells like onion.
