Cherokee Sedge is a compact evergreen ornamental grass native of the Southeast that grows in slow-spreading clumps.  Its upright grass-like foliage is a deep green and in late spring a scaly white flower transitions into wheat seed-like clusters.  Prefers partial sun and moist, well-drained soil but is drought tolerant once established. Can be used as turf replacement.
