Chinese Fringe Tree is a large multi-stemmed deciduous shrub or small tree with a rounded crown.  The spear-like bright green foliage turns yellow in fall.  Terminal clusters of mildly fragrant pure white fringe-like flowers bloom heavily in spring.  Female flowers give way to clusters of olive-like fruits that mature to blue-black in fall.  Grows best in rich, moist acidic well-drained soils.  Intolerant of drought.
