Winter King Green Hawthorn is a native deciduous tree with a rounded habit and silver bark that exfoliates to reveal orange inner bark when mature.  Mostly spinless, but can have thorns of 1.5”.  The foliage is a glossy dark green that turns rich scarlets and purples in fall.  Winter King is noted for its profuse bloom of white flowers in spring and large fruits that persist into winter.  Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil.  Disease resistant.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance.  One of the most disease-resistant Hawthorns.  Some susceptibility to rust and fireblight.  Occasional problems include leaf spots, powdery mildew, cankers, and scab.  Potential pests include borers, caterpillars, lacebugs, leafminers, and scale.
