Luxuriant Bleeding Heart is a compact herbaceous perennial with deeply cut blue green leaves resembling ferns.  Nodding cherry red buds that open to dark reddish-pink heart shaped flowers with protruding inner petals bloom on long leaning stems in late spring.  The blooms can continue into summer if weather is cool or stop in hot summers and rebloom as the weather cools in late summer into fall.  Flowers best in part shade and consistently moist rich well-drained acidic soils.
