Green Ash is a large native lowland deciduous tree with an pyramidal habit that gradually matures to rounded with an irregular crown.  Its ovate foliage is toothed from midleaf and turns yellow in fall.  Green Ash is dioecious and produces clusters of inconspicuous purplish flowers of only one gender on a tree.  If female flowers are pollinated they give way to winged samaras that last through winter.  It only handles full sun and well-drained soils.  Urban and drought tolerant once established.
