The flowers have unique starry double-petaled flower clusters that cover the plant throughout summer into fall.  The color of the panicles depends on the soil PH - acidic soils produce lavender to blue flowers, while alkaline soils produce the rose pink its known for.  Best bloom in partial sun and rich, moist well-drained soils.
