Persian Ironwood is a small deciduous tree with exfoliating bark.  The dense foliage emerges reddish-purple to bronze and matures a glossy dark green before turning various shades of yellow, orange, and red for fall.   The attractive but inconspicuous red flowers bloom early spring.  Best grown in full sun and slightly acidic, well-drained soils.
