Blackbeard Beardtongue is a dramatic native herbaceous perennial with purple lance-shaped foliage and sturdy upright purple stems.  Airy panicles of small tubular lilac pink flowers with flaring white ends bloom in mid spring into summer followed by burgundy seedpods.  Grows best in partial sun and dry to medium well-drained soil.  Drought and heat tolerant.
