Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) is an upright native  perennial often found in swamps, rivers, and wet meadows with green lance-like leaves.  Tight clusters of small, fragrant flowers come in shades of pink and mauve and bloom in late spring to summer.   Performs best in full sun and moist to wet soils, but can tolerate average soils.  The milky sap released from damaged stems is toxic if ingested.
