Legacy Sugar Maple is a fast-growing native deciduous tree with a dense rounded crown.  The thick waxy dark green palmate leaves resist tearing and turn shades of gold, orange, and scarlet in fall.  Neither flowers or fruit is significant.  Best color in full sun and rich, moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils.  Legacy is drought and pollution tolerant.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Medium maintenance.  Water regularly.  Susceptible to verticillium wilt, anthracnose, cankers, leaf spot, and tar spot.  Also susceptible to aphids, borers, and scale.  Leaf scorch may be a problem with drought conditions in full sun. Sugar Maples are usually intolerant of road salt and pollution.
