Blackhawks Big Blue Stem is a clump forming warm-season native grass with flattened leaves that emerge dark green and darkens to purple in late summer, then nearly black by fall.  The reddish-purple flower culms bloom from fall into winter.  Grows best in full sun and well-drained soils.  Excellent drought tolerant once established.
